Tibetan Plateau Biochar Carbon Removal Project Completes Three Pilot Production Batches

The Qinghai–Xizang Plateau Biochar Carbon Removal Project has completed three pilot production batches and the associated testing activities. The pilots covered feedstock preparation, pyrolysis production, process documentation, sample retention, third-party testing, transportation tracking, and final application. This work further demonstrated the operational feasibility of the project’s technical pathway and batch-level evidence chain while generating practical experience for commercial facility design, life-cycle assessment, monitoring-plan development, and quality-control improvement.

The three pilot batches provide a practical foundation for HCAP to strengthen high-altitude carbon removal project management, digital MRV, batch tracking, laboratory-data linkage, and full-process evidence management. They also support methodology applicability assessment, certification-document preparation, and third-party audit coordination under relevant Puro Standard requirements. The pilot results will inform subsequent project development and certification preparation but do not represent independently verified carbon removals, Puro certification, or CORC issuance.
