Hunan University’s College of Environmental Science and Engineering, the College of Forestry and Grassland of Xizang Agriculture and Animal Husbandry University, and Xizang NatureForce Technology Co., Ltd. have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly establish the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau Carbon Removal Research Center. The Center will operate as a non-independent legal entity for scientific research collaboration, focusing on carbon removal technologies, high-altitude ecosystem restoration and related industrial applications.
Under the agreement, the three parties will combine their strengths in scientific research, technology development, talent cultivation and industrial resources to advance joint research, technology transfer, project development, academic exchange and international climate cooperation. The establishment of the Center is expected to strengthen carbon removal research and ecological restoration practices across the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau and provide technical and scientific support for regional ecological protection and carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
The Center will also support the Himalayan Climate Action Platform (HCAP) by strengthening its scientific foundation, technical capacity, and project development efforts, contributing to the continued improvement of HCAP’s climate action and carbon removal work.
