WHAT IS THE HCAP?

The Himalayan Climate Action Platform (HCAP) is a project management and technical support platform for carbon removal projects in high-altitude regions, with a particular focus on pathways such as biochar carbon removal and enhanced rock weathering. HCAP supports project development, methodology applicability assessment, digital MRV, life-cycle assessment, data and evidence management, and audit preparation, helping projects establish more complete, transparent, and traceable management systems.

HCAP also facilitates coordination among project developers, research institutions, laboratories, Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs), Puro.earth, and potential carbon removal credit buyers. HCAP does not make certification decisions, operate the Puro Registry, or issue CO₂ Removal Certificates (CORCs). Projects seeking certification must comply with the applicable Puro Standard requirements, undergo independent third-party verification, and receive final approval and issuance through Puro.earth.
